Marshall Islands is a country made
up of 29 low
atolls, covering 181 km˛.
FRUIT FLY SPECIES: Only
one species: mango fly (Bactrocera
frauenfeldi (Schiner). It is widespread over every atoll of Marshall Islands.
STATUS OF
QUARANTINE SURVEILLANCE (as of October 2007): There are
7 trapping sites on Majuro each with one Cue-lure and one
methyl eugenol trap. Traps are maintained by quarantine inspectors, under the supervision
of the SPC Project on Plant Protection in Micronesia, based on Pohnpei (contact Mr.
John
Wichep ppmicronesia@mail.fm).
