The National Park Grand Canyon is located geographically in northern Arizona, more precisely 125 kilometers from the town of Flagstaff. One of the most stunning natural environments throughout the United States.

The most visited by tourists is the Visitor Center at the South Rim can be accessed after a car ride and a half hours from Flagstaff or five hours from Las Vegas.

Another form of access is via commercial airlines with flights between Las Vegas, Phoenix and Flagstaff and Grand Canyon Airport. It is located a few miles from the Visitor Centre South Rim. The airplane and helicopter tours depart from this small airport.

You can also go online with Park Grand Canyon Railway operates steam locomotive trains. It offers service between Williams Arizona stations and Visitor Centre South Rim.
Where to stay

The place to accommodate the tourists is the small town of Tusayan comfortable strategically located 6 miles south of Grand Canyon Village and one mile from the park entrance.

Tusayan offers tourists the opportunity to stay in hotels, enjoy restaurants, supermarkets, kiosks, gift shops, service stations, bars, an IMAX giant-screen theater and a small airport. It is usually easier to find accommodation in private hotels in Tusayan sites are within the park.
What to visit from the Visitor Centre South Rim of the Park

The Grand Canyon is about 200 miles long and 10 to 15 miles wide. Its deepest parts are in the Colorado River channel and measure vertically over one mile (1.6 km).

Most people who visit the Grand Canyon they do from the South Rim Tour. Part of the usual route is closed to vehicular traffic from May to October. But, as an alternative to this, there are regular shuttle bus takes visitors to the scenic spots.

One of the alternatives to the site visits is to travel by mule to the bottom of the barrel. There are half day tours and longer stopping other night, but must make reservations months in advance.

Another alternative available is to visit the Grand Canyon on foot. The tour begins down to its base and the preferred route is the route known as the Bright Angel, that runs from Grand Canyon Village. The length of the path is two days and one night stop being forced to refuel Ghost Ranch.

One of the best views of this magnificent place offers platform Grand Canyon , also known attraction Skywalk. This platform is built with glass and its height above the bottom of the Grand Canyon is 1200 meters, is fee-based access, but definitely worth it, because literally feel suspended in the air.
